Individualized preparations, one prescription at a time

A 503A compounding pharmacy prepares a medication for one named patient when a licensed prescriber writes for it. We do not make batches for a shelf, and a compounded preparation never replaces an FDA-approved medicine that already meets the patient's needs.

  • Regulated as a 503A pharmacy

Licensed by the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy and working to USP compounding standards.

  • A prescription, every time

Each preparation starts with a prescription from a licensed prescriber for one identified patient.

  • A pharmacist on every order

We confirm strength, form and quantity with the prescriber before anything is prepared, and explain how to use it after.

Don't See the Medication You're Looking For?

We're always open to expanding our compounding offerings. If there's a medication we don't currently compound, let us know what you're looking for. Our pharmacy team can review the request, discuss whether it's possible, and provide an estimated timeline if the formulation can be developed.

How compounding works

Three stages, with a pharmacist involved at each one.

  1. Step 1: The prescriber submits a prescription

A licensed prescriber writes for the strength, dosage form and quantity an individual patient needs and sends it to the pharmacy. Patients can also ask their prescriber to refer them.

Phone, fax or e-prescribe; ask us for details

  2. Step 2: A pharmacist reviews and prepares the eligible formulation

The pharmacist confirms the details with the practice, checks that the preparation may be compounded for that patient, and prepares it under USP compounding standards and Pennsylvania pharmacy rules.

    One prescription, one patient

  3. Step 3: The patient receives guidance and the finished preparation

The preparation is labelled, a pharmacist reviews how to use and store it, and the pharmacy stays available for questions. Refills follow the prescriber's instructions.

Pick up at the pharmacy; ask about other options

Questions people ask before their first compounded prescription

Short, honest answers. Call us for anything specific to your situation.

What is a 503A compounding pharmacy?

A 503A pharmacy prepares medications for individual, identified patients when a licensed prescriber writes a prescription for them. It is regulated primarily by the state board of pharmacy and follows USP compounding standards. It is different from a 503B outsourcing facility, which manufactures larger batches for office use.

Do I need a prescription?

Yes. Every compounded medication is prepared from a valid prescription written by a licensed prescriber for a specific patient. If you are a patient, ask your prescriber to send the prescription to us or use the referral form so we can coordinate with their office.

Are compounded medications FDA-approved?

No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and the FDA does not review them for safety or effectiveness. They are prepared for an individual patient under a prescriber's direction when a commercially available product does not meet that patient's needs.

How does a prescriber send a prescription?

Prescribers can e-prescribe, fax or call the pharmacy. The referral form on this site lets a practice or patient start the process; a pharmacist then contacts the prescriber to confirm the strength, dosage form and quantity before anything is compounded.

Do you accept insurance?

Coverage for compounded medications varies by plan and by preparation. Contact the pharmacy with your prescription details and we will explain the options before anything is prepared.

Where are you located and which states do you serve?

We are at 343 Godshall Dr, Ste 500, Harleysville, PA 19438. We are licensed in Pennsylvania. If you live in another state, call us and we will tell you whether we can help.
